Gongs For Gwinnett And Goddard As South Stars Crowned

By Sam Elliott

Let us introduce you to the latest big winners in the National League South - and they’ve had a fabulous few weeks which could turn out to be very important.

It comes to something when a team as relentless as Yeovil Town have been left empty handed when it comes to the month’s accolades.

There was no messing in November from Hampton & RB. In fact, there hasn’t been for quite a while now. The side unbeaten since September - when they actually sat in the bottom four - sparkled again last month.

They started it with a win at Dover before a decent point at Tonbridge Angels. They then hit promotion rivals Maidstone United for five before doing the same to Cray Valley in the FA Trophy.

Ending with a 2-1 win at Chippenham, the Beavers fans have been here before. After a slow start to life in charge, Mel Gwinnett has totally transformed the club’s season.

He’s done it again and gets his hands on the Manager of the Month award.

Similarly, Slough Town are looking up again too after a difficult opening few months to the campaign.

A lot of that has been down to the form of Johnny Goddard. He played six times in November and scored four goals from midfield.

It’s not just about quantity, it’s quality too. He scored two incredible free-kicks against Welling and Farnborough as the Rebels got things going.

Creating as well as scoring, he played a huge part in holding League Two Grimsby Town to a draw at Arbour Park – bagging an assist in the replay despite eventually being knocked out.

Goddard remains one of the division’s more feared wingers and player-manager Scott Davies knows just how important he is out on the pitch and from the sidelines.

Well done to our two big winners!
