Ryan Becomes Latest New Avenue Recruit

By Steve Whitney

Powerful forward Jack Ryan has become Vanarama National League North club Bradford Park Avenue’s eighth summer signing as he joins from Sky Bet Championship side Preston North End.

The 20-year-old has signed for Alex Meechan’s side having made just one appearance in the second tier at Deepdale.

However, he has impressed in loan spells, notably scoring 8 goals in sixteen league appearances for Stockport County at the start of the 2014/15 season.

That in fact included one against Avenue, their first defeat of that campaign coming late in August at Edgeley Park.

He has also played at the Horsfall Stadium, causing a lot of trouble as he lined up in a 1-1 draw with Stalybridge Celtic late in the 2013/14 season. He played alongside fellow new signing Andy McWilliams.

More recently, he has spent time on loan at Southport and Morecambe before his release by Preston this summer.

“I’m pleased to be here,” Ryan said after joining the club. “I’m here to hopefully play some games and help the club progress, and progress myself because I didn’t get much of a run out last season.

“I’m here to play, score goals and hopefully enjoy my football.

“After being let go by Preston I got a call from Alex Meechan, he wanted to get me here and it’s going well so far.

“I’m quite quick, like to hold the ball up and hopefully I’ll be able to score some goals.

“I like to entertain, and hopefully that will help get the club back where it belongs”.
