Now York Swoop for Kamdjo

By Steve Whitney

Vanarama National league newcomers York City continue a busy week by signing former Forest Green Rovers midfielder Clovis Kamdjo.

The 25-year-old signed a two-year contract at Bootham Crescent and follows hot on the heels of winger Kaine Felix arriving from Boston United.

Kamdjo, who began his career as a defender, playing at centre-half or right-back, moved to England from Cameroon at the age of 14 and began his career at the Reading Academy in 2005.

Despite progressing through the system and captaining the Berkshire club’s youth team, he was released at the end of his scholarship and joined League Two side Barnet on a one-year deal in August 2009.

After his initial season at professional level at Underhill, Kamdjo made over a century of appearances for the Bees in the next three campaigns, retaining his place in the side despite a number of managerial changes.

At the end of the 2012/13 season he signed for then National League outfit Salisbury City side on a free transfer, making forty appearances in all competitions, scoring four times.

After the conclusion of his one-year deal with the Whites, he switched to Forest Green on a two-year contract in 2014 and after appearing thirty-six times in his first season, moved on loan to Boreham Wood last season as they successfully secured their fifth tier status.
