Ring King! Holt Set For Wrestling Debut He Announces

By Sam Elliott

Grant Holt will swap the dug-out and the 18-yard box for the wrestling ring after announcing a surprise career change.

The Barrow striker, also a coach at Holker Street is to appear in the World Association of Wrestling.

The former Norwich City forward, 37, plans to combine football with his new role and will begin training later this week.

The 37-year-old is scheduled to team up with Roy and Zak Knight, known as the UK Hooligans, at Fightmare 3 in 2019.

Of course, Holt is not the only footballer to make the switch.
Burton Albion goalkeeper Stuart Tomlinson turned to wrestling in 2013 and went under the ring name of Hugo Knox as he spent two years in the profession.

Holt has scored more than 150 goals in over 400 career appearances and also lists Wigan Athletic, Shrewsbury, King’s Lynn and Rochdale among his former clubs.

He worked alongside Ady Pennock and Jamie Day at Barrow last season as the club avoided relegation.
