After a 1-0 win against Alfeton Town, the Sandgrounders have 13 points out a possible 15, writes Tom Feaheny.
Lewer spoke the club's website about why this win meant a lot to him.
"I'm delighted after the injuries we have had, three players had knocks, it is a very pleasing performance and win for us.
"The midfield dominated during the first-half, we had chances Gary Roberts fired just over, from our point of view that experience in that area is crucial along the pitch."
"We showed a work rate and a willingness during this game and the matches so far, that has been crucial."
This match also saw Jacques Kpohomouh make play for the first time after coming off the bench after 20 minutes and Lewer praised his impact.
"He was solid, he has done well during pre-season, he had a suspension, he didn't lose a header, he looked good."
They next face York City, that is the start of a tough run of matches, but Lewer says all his focus is on the Minstermen.
"We just look at it one game at a time, we are only interested in York and seeing what they are about."
