York Bring In Experienced Mariner On Loan

York City have signed midfielder Sean McAllister on a month's loan from SkyBet League Two side Grimsby Town.

A former Manchester United and Bolton Wanderers youngster, McAllister, who was born in Bolton, began his professional career with Sheffield Wednesday.

After four years, playing sixty-eight times in the first-team, he was released by the Owls and joined Shrewsbury Town.

He spent two seasons with the Shrews, making thirty-five appearances, before brief spells at Port Vale and Scottish outfit Cowdenbeath.

McAllister joined Scunthorpe United in July 2013 and was voted the club's player of the year after helping the Iron win promotion to League One.

After three seasons at Scunthorpe, totalling seventy-three games, he joined neighbours Grimsby in the summer of 2016.

However, injuries have restricted the now 30-year-old to a handful of appearances for the Mariners.

McAllister goes straight into the City squad for tomorrow's game at AFC Telford United.
