Woodman: Taking Bromley To The EFL Is My 'Obsession'

He is one more victory away from ending his EFL fascination but the manager thinks this one final task will be the toughest.

Woodman was suitably impressed by Solihull Moors in their two play-off matches and it’s easy to see why. With eight goals - include four at runners-up Barnet in the semi-final - it’s a very hard Promotion Final to call.

Woodman spoke to us ahead of the Wembley finale and in his programme column outlined why he hopes the owner’s gamble on him really pays off.

“In the summer, we had a plan and a target to hit every month and from August onwards, the lads have stuck to the task and ploughed through the season to the point where we find ourselves exactly where we wanted to be,” he said.

“The idea of putting this football club in the EFL has become an obsession for me. I’d like to achieve promotion for the whole of the town.

“The people of Bromley have supported us throughout my time at the club. It’s a nice football club. It’s a nice area. I live in this town, so I know how much everyone has invested in. It would mean a lot to me to get over the line today.

I also have to mention our owner and chairman Robin Stanton-Gleaves. He took a gamble on bringing me in as a new manager so it would be nice to look him in the eye and say ‘we’ve achieved this together’.”

Michael Cheek has loved working under his and says a win for Woodman at Wembley would be so richly deserved.

He said: “The gaffer’s stats don’t lie - the Eliminators, a semi-final, now a Promotion Final and an FA Trophy win all in four years. He’s taken the club in a whole new direction.”
