What's On Offer Tonight In The National League?

By Steven Coney

You don’t have much time to breathe in the National League! We’ve not had long to digest the weekend’s action before looking forward to another big evening.

Tuesday night may not decide who will win the League title but we could well have a much clearer idea of where the championship will end up.

Leaders Macclesfield Town have won three and drawn two of their previous six away games and they will need to be at their best against Boreham Wood.

Wood will want a reaction after their weekend defeat at FC Halifax Town but the Silkmen know a victory would inch them even nearer to promotion.

Sutton United’s title hopes may be fading but all they can do is keep winning to put pressure on the leaders - they face a difficult trip to FC Halifax Town who look all but safe.

Bottom club Guiseley know they could officially be relegated tonight if they fail to beat Dagenham & Redbridge and other results go against them.

Barrow, who fell into the bottom four on Saturday, will want to make their stay a brief one and they host Eastleigh.

The Bluebirds know their disastrous home form has to improve but Eastleigh won’t be taking the game lightly - they drew with promotion-chasing Wrexham on Saturday.

Even a win for Ady Pennock’s men may not be enough for them to climb back out of the bottom four with Solihull Moors hoping for a positive result against Maidstone United.

Solihull’s home form under Mark Yates has been terrific and they are now six unbeaten following Saturday’s late win at Hartlepool. Maidstone are just six points above the relegation zone themselves - they’re far from safe.

Torquay United could put pressure on both Barrow and Solihull with victory at Plainmoor against AFC Fylde. The Coasters will be desperate to retain their top-seven spot so the Gulls will need to be at their best to secure a result.

If Fylde do slip up, Ebbsfleet United will be hoping that they can take advantage although they face a tough game against Wrexham. The Dragons themselves know they need to find some form if they are to claim a play-off place - it’s a big game for both sides in Kent.

Tranmere Rovers could potentially climb up to second with victory over Gateshead at Prenton Park and they’ll want to finish as high as possible with home advantage in the play-offs on the line.

Another club with worries at the wrong end of the table are Woking. The Cards are winless in ten games and will be desperate for three points as they look to give themselves breathing room. Hosts Maidenhead United will be keen to secure their National League status for next season as soon as possible, however.

Our final game tonight comes from already relegated Chester where Bromley are the visitors. With just pride to play for now for the Blues, the visitors will look to keep the pressure on the top seven with a win.
