What Happened On Tuesday Across The National League

It was not so calm after the storm as the Vanarama National League promotion races took another twist.

Leaders Stockport County had their prayers answered as closest challengers Chesterfield went down at home to Wrexham.

Ollie Palmer hit a double as the Dragons made it three straight wins.

Incredibly, eight of the other nine games in the division this evening ended level – more good news for County.

Boreham Wood notched clean sheet number 15 this season but couldn’t net against Torquay.

Bromley fought back twice from behind against Weymouth for a point while ten-man Woking levelled late on against Dagenham & Redbridge courtesy of Inih Effiong.

Aldershot and Dover drew a blank – as did Barnet and King’s Lynn Town.

Noor Husin scored a belter as Southend fought back to grab a point at Eastleigh.

Elisha Sam pulled Notts County level just before half-time. That after Aaron Martin had visitors FC Halifax Town ahead at Meadow Lane.

Maidenhead and Yeovil could not be split but Solihull Moors, one of only two sides to win on the night, had Lois Maynard to thank for bagging the winner – Mark Ellis was sent off for the Moors on the hour mark.

In the Vanarama National League North, Gateshead stretched their legs at the top courtesy of a double from Cedwyn Scott and a cracker from Adam Campbell.

AFC Fylde slumped to back-to-back defeats at the hands of Darlington.

Curzon Ashton extended their unbeaten run to five games with an incredible win over promotion chasers Hereford – Tom Peers notched the winner.

Gloucester and Alfreton was goalless while Kettering Town fought back from two goals down against AFC Telford to bag an huge point.

Blyth Spartans were made to work for their first win in five games.

Terry Mitchell’s side edged past Southport who went ahead early on through George Newell.

Kidderminster kept the pressure on the top two with a fine win over Boston United.

Ash Hemmings got things off to a good start before Sam Austin and Amari Morgan-Smith put the gloss on another decent Aggborough evening.

Spennymoor pair Anthony Johnson and Bernard Morley got one over their former employers Chester – Rob Ramshaw and Jordan Thewlis combining for the Town’s first win in five.

Just two games in the Vanarama National League South.

A double from Shaun Jeffers saw St Albans move into the top seven – while Jeffers moved onto 22 for the season in the league.

Hungerford made it four home wins on the spin against title chasers Dartford.
