What Happened On Saturday Across The National League

By Sam Elliott

It could turn out to be a crucial day in the National League title race as the play-off chase really warms up.

Stockport County were 2-0 down at home to Wealdstone at half-time and the rest were thinking if it was finally the moment.

But a stunning second-half comeback with goals from Paddy Madden, Ryan Johnson, Ash Palmer and Antoni Sarcevic totally turned it around.

Some of their rivals slipped up, too.

But not Chesterfield - a goal from Akwasi Asante 15 minutes from the end flattened Maidenhead United.

Wrexham and Bromley drew 0-0 and so did Boreham Wood and Grimsby Town.

FC Halifax Town won well, they defeated Torquay United 2-0.

A Will Wright own goal earned Notts County a crucial win at Dagenham after they fell behind. It was a huge result for Ian Burchnall’s side.

Joe Sbarra hit a hat-trick in an eight goal thriller as Solihull Moors ran out 5-3 winners against Eastleigh.

Nathan Ralph, pictured, and Matthew Dennis hit the mark as Southend beat Altrincham, while Woking were 2-0 winners against Barnet.

King’s Lynn Town have hope after winning 3-0 at Aldershot but it’s relegation for Dover Athletic after a wonder goal from Dale Gorman earned a simple win for Yeovil Town.

Both the National League North title chasers won.

Brackley Town edged out promotion rivals Kidderminster Harriers 1-0, Lee Ndlovu hit the clincher.

Gateshead secured a fine 2-1 win against Boston United - Cedwyn Scott continues his great season by grabbing the winner to keep the Heed ahead.

York City and Southport drew 3-3, a late leveller from Jordan Archer handing Port a thrilling point.

Robbie Dale was the Blyth Spartans hero yet again - the veteran striker got the winner at Chorley.

Declan Weeks was amongst the goals as Chester hammered Kettering Town 4-0.

Liam Nolan was at the double for AFC Telford who bettered promotion-chasing Spennymoor Town.

Elsewhere there were excellent wins for Leamington, Farsley Celtic, Gloucester City and AFC Fylde.

In the National League South, we have new leaders.

Maidstone United were indebted to Jack Barham once again as his goals saw off Braintree Town.

Dorking Wanderers gave up another lead but Wes Fogden grabbed a point after Dean Inman thought he had won it for Hampton & RB at Meadowbank.

Substitute Dom Poleon got the winner as Ebbsfleet United defeated St Albans while Dartford and Havant & Waterlooville drew 0-0.

Bath City came from behind as Alex Fletcher sealed victory against Hemel Hempstead.

Dylan Gavin grabbed a fine brace as struggling Billericay Town showcased their improvement with a 3-1 win over Oxford City.

Elsewhere they were great wins for Eastbourne Borough, Welling United and Tonbridge Angels.
