What Happened On Saturday Across The National League

By Sam Elliott

It was a day of big comebacks and differing reactions to red cards as the National League promotion race rumbled on.

Stockport County moved six points clear after they recovered from a red card to defeat Woking.

Liam Hogan was sent off ten minutes after half time but Ash Palmer came up with the goods and secured another win for the leaders.

Chesterfield couldn’t do the same - at 2-0 up against Solihull Moors they lost midfielder Curtis Weston.

That inspired the away side who came back from the dead and won it when Harry Boyes completed the turn around.

It was a perfect day for table toppers Stockport County - third place Boreham Wood lost 2-0 at Maidenhead United.

Goals from Josh Kelly and Nathan Blissett added another title chasers’ scalp to the list for the impressive Magpies.

A Reece Hall-Johnson goal five minutes into time added on handed Wrexham three points against Wealdstone.

It was a day of great responses as Barnet turned it around to claim a valuable point at Torquay United. It ended 2-2 as Ephron Mason-Clark came up trumps.

Kyle Wootton and Callum Roberts scored as Notts County defeated Eastleigh 2-0.

Just three games finished in the National League North.

It was a great day for Gateshead who took full advantage, they defeated Spennymoor 2-1.

They came from behind too - Adam Campbell got what turned out to be the winner as the Heed move three points clear.

Hereford were twice behind at Chester but still won as Tom Owen-Evans earned a huge three points for Josh Gowling’s in-form side.

Darlington came from behind to take a point at Gloucester City.

Maidstone United beat Oxford City in the big game in the National League South.

Joan Luque and Joe Ellul earned a huge win in the second vs third game.

Dorking Wanderers power on. Matt Briggs and James McShane hit the mark as the leaders were professional against Chelmsford City.

Marcus Dinagna made things safe for Dartford, who defeated Bath City 2-0 at Princes Park.

Havant & Waterlooville ended their bad run as they won 4-2 against Ebbsfleet United.

Braintree are undefeated in seven - they saw off Hungerford 1-0.

Elsewhere there were big wins for Slough Town and Hemel Hempstead as Eastbourne Borough drew 1-1 at Chippenham Town.
