What Happened On Saturday Across The National League?

Late drama was the order of the day on another thrilling afternoon of simply scintillating National League action.

Notts County produced an incredible turn around - 2-1 down in the last minute, they somehow clinched all three points at Chesterfield.

The 3-2 win was secured in sensational circumstances, Kyle Wootton with the big moment deep into stoppage time to grab a vital three points at the home of their rivals.

An incredible live BT Sport game saw Sutton United score an 95th minute leveller to earn a point at Wealdstone- just when they thought they had thrown it all away.

Ross Lafayette's double helped turn it around as the Stones lead 3-2 having gone in at half-time 2-0 behind.

But the viewers watching at home saw Craig Eastmond score with the final kick as both managers agreed it was a great advert for National League football.

There was more late drama around the grounds - Jamie McDonald got the winner four minutes from time as Altrincham won 1-0 at Boreham Wood.

It didn’t stop there. Chris Bush’s 95th goal competed a Bromley fightback as they came 2-0 down to draw away to Maidenhead United.

Leaders Torquay United won at FC Halifax in the closing stages to push further ahead. Connor Lemonheigh-Evans with the crucial winner as the Gulls soar.

The damage was done in the first half by Hartlepool United at Yeovil.

The Glovers are still without a win and went down 3-1 at home to Pools - Luke Molyneux, Gavan Holohan and defender Tyler Magloire with the goals.

Woking played for an hour with ten men and still beat Barnet 4-1. It was a show of real strength from Alan Dowson’s team who continue to impress.

Luke Young was the hero yet again for Wrexham - another fine goal handed Dean Keates’ team the three point in a 1-0 home win over Aldershot.

Adam Marriott round the net as King’s Lynn beat Dover Athletic 2-0.


Just two of the top seven won in the National League South - but it was a good day for the title chasers.

Leaders Dartford responded to their set-back on Tuesday by beating Slough Town 2-0.

Dorking’s kick-off was delayed against Concord Rangers but they made up for lost time.

They are second in the table after 3-1 win as two-goal striker Jason Prior again inspired them.

Tonbridge Angels stunned Ebbsfleet United with a 1-0 victory with Tommy Wood getting the winning goal.

Two teams at the top end fired blanks. There were no goals between St Albans City and Hungerford.

Hampton claimed an important home win - they beat Bath City 1-0 with Sam Deadfield’s late penalty the difference.

Chippenham beat Chelmsford City away from home 2-0, while there was no separating Maidstone United and Billericay.


Gloucester City powered seven points clear at the top of the National League North.

They held a 2-1 win at Guiseley with Matt McClure and Akwasi Asante yet again on target.

Gateshead won 4-1 at home to Southport loan star Jed Garner with a fine hat-trick for the Heed.

There was at Hereford against Chorley - a topsy-turvy ending say the hosts snatch back a point through Lenell John-Lewis, 2-2 it ended.

Brackley Town and Chester drew 1-1, Max Lowe rescued a point for the hosts while Farsley fought back to draw against Kidderminster.

Leamington are on fire - they won 3-0 at Curzon Ashton with Sam Osborn scoring twice.

Elsewhere Darlington won 2-0 at Alfreton, while AFC Telford had Andy Bond sent off after 53 minutes but held on for a big win against Bradford PA.
