What Happened In The National League This Saturday?

By Sam Elliott

Barrow started the day frustrated that their game with Solihull Moors fell victim to the elements, but ended it as happy inactive leaders.

That’s because none of the top seven won on Saturday as more dropped points for their rivals maybe made up for their lack of action.

Yeovil will ultimately but happy, despite not winning at AFC Fylde. Darren Sarll’s side bit back from 2-0 down to claim a good point, in-form Courtney Duffus at the double to make the long trip home that bit more manageable.

Bromley’s form isn’t what their manager Neil Smith would want - they now have only two wins in 11.

Defeat at home to Eastleigh stopped the Ravens jumping into second spot, Andrew Boyce’s brilliant headed goal proving to be the difference. It ended 3-2 to the Spitfires.

Woking, in fourth, also didn’t play because of the rain but Harrogate couldn’t jump ahead of them.

They went down to a last minute winner from Boreham Wood’s prolific Kobongo Tshimanga as he secured a dramatic 2-1 win for Luke Garrard’s side who have impressed lately.

FC Halifax’s poor home form cost them again - they chucked away the lead twice as Notts County confirmed what they hope could be a season-turning result. Kyle Wootton and Mitch Rose both scored twice to earn a 4-2 victory at the Shay.

Torquay United aren’t in a good place - a sixth defeat in a row came against another side not in good form. Chesterfield won 3-0 at Plainmoor, Jack Kay, Curtis Weston and Haydn Hollis all on target - a much-needed win for John Sheridan.

There was a very big game down the bottom and another away day to forget for Wrexham.

An Omar Bugiel hat-trick handed Sutton United a wonderful win - and Matt Gray’s team move away from trouble with a 3-1 success.

Aldershot are moving in the right direction. Mo Bettamer’s second half winner saw Stockport County miss the chance to jump into the play-off pack.

Barnet turned on the style as they moved to within three points off the top seven with an excellent 4-1 win at Maidenhead. Sim Akinola netted twice to keep his great recent scoring run going.

Hartlepool are making progress under Dave Challinor. Defender Mark Kitching earned a 1-0 win at home to Dagenham.

Chorley nearly made it three 1-0 home wins in a row but Dover’s Kevin Lokko had other areas. He took a point home from Lancashire late on.
