What Happened In The National League South On Boxing Day

By Sam Elliott

There was is only one place to start as we look back on an eventful day in the National League South - and Santa came late to deliver a great Christmas gift for Slough Town fans.

Wealdstone knew a win would take them ten points clear but it wasn’t to be as the Rebels closed the gap to four points.

Ben Harris’ first half penalty put the hosts ahead and it seemed all over two minutes from time when Max Worsfold thrashed home a shot to the joy of the home fans.

Stones grabbed an injury time lifeline through Michee Efete but it wasn’t enough to see the leaders rally.

The celebrations at full-time said it all as the championship race took a big twist.

Bath City may consider themselves in the title race now, too.

Joe Raynes’ winner 11 minutes from time got one over foes Chippenham, 3-2 it finished in a fantastic Boxing Day game.

St Albans
snatched an important win to keep them upwardly mobile.

They defeated rivals Hemel Hempstead 2-0 Joe Iaciofano's opener after a great Munashe Sundire pass got things going. Zane Banton's superb solo goal confirmed the win.

A double from deadly Darren McQueen gave Kent bragging rights to Dartford as they came away from Welling United with a fantastic 3-0 win.

Joel Nouble was in sensational form as Concord Rangers thrashed Billericay 4-1. The Esssex derby was a one-way affair.

Chelmsford
got one over rivals Braintree as the Iron’s iffy form continued.

Wideman Chris Whelpdale grabbed a double as the Clarets eventually eased to a fine 4-1 win at Melbourne.

Dorking are in fine form - Jason Prior was amongst the goals as they won 4-0 over Eastbourne Brough.

Hampton are also in good form, they held on at Dulwich to win 2-1.

Oxford City opened their door and let fans in for free - and they got great entertainment once again.

Hungerford
couldn’t quite pull off the comeback as the host won 3-2.
