Unibet's National League North And South Preview

By Sam Elliott

Get yourself strapped in, we’re waving goodbye to 2022 with some serious hum-dingers on Boxing Day.

There’s a simply huge game in the National League North and National League South as we sign off the year in some style.

Unibet would like to wish all National League fans a points-filled Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Darlington vs Scarborough - National League North

In the past 14 seasons, 9 of the sides who sat top on Christmas Day went on to win the National League North.

Good news for Darlington fans then, but they know they’ve got a big job on to still be leading way going into 2023.

The Quakers, who have taken ten points from a possible 12, aren’t perfect at home - winning just one of their last five. The Seadogs are fourth and very much in the title mix.

These two probably wish the game was reversed. Scarborough have just one defeat at home in well over a year while Darlington have won their last five on the road.

Ebbsfleet vs Dartford - National League South

It’s not exactly the worst way to say farewell to the year.

A first vs second match-up, a Kent derby with the two teams separated only by goal difference.

But this is currently a sticky spot for leaders Ebbsfleet, who just a few games ago looked like champions-in-waiting already.

After thrashing Worthing 6-0, back-to-back defeated against Eastbourne Borough and Cheshunt has seen the club waste two of their games in hand.

Dartford plan to make things very interesting indeed on Monday.

Their 3-1 win at title rivals Havant & Waterlooville last Wednesday seems to have shaken off some of their issues after a really frustrating few weeks.

Despite the Eastbourne wobble, Fleet are really good at home. They’ve won eight of their 11 games in front of their fans, while Alan Dowson’s Darts have already gone down four times on their travels.

Whatever happens, vengeance can be taken a few days later - the teams meet on New Year’s Day.

What a belting Boxing Day it’s going to be!
