Unibet's National League North And South Preview

By Sam Elliott

After the National League North and South sides stole the show in the FA Cup, it’s time to return to their bread and butter.

Chippenham Town, Farnborough and King’s Lynn Town all sent EFL sides packing on Saturday as they caused first round chaos.

Let’s hope all sore heads have healed - there’s a full programme coming on Tuesday night!

Hampton & RB vs Ebbsfleet United - National League South

It may not have been a Football League side they saw off, but Ebbsfleet United still managed to claim a cup scalp.

Even if a fair few would have backed them to see off FC Halifax, the Fleet still had to produce - and their wonderful season keeps getting better.

Only thing is they once again lost the leadership. With Dartford not in midweek action, they can claw it back. They are still unbeaten and this is one of the Kent club’s three games in hand.

Hampton were heroic at Dulwich on Saturday - then undid all their good work. They have now lost three in a row, letting in 12 goals in those matches and can’t afford a repeat of that generosity on Tuesday night.

Scarborough Athletic vs King’s Lynn Town - National League North

It may have seemed the perfect day for Tommy Widdrington and his players at Doncaster Rovers.

But it wasn’t totally as they would have dreamed it.

Nothing to do with injuries, more the chasers in the National League North upping the heat in their absence - and one of them finally shoved Lynn off top spot and down to third!

Brackley Town now need to be deposed, and it’s quite the assignment for the FA Cup heroes in midweek.

This won’t be easy, despite being on cloud nine. Scarborough have settled in superbly after promotion last year.

Sitting pretty in fourth, they are beaten at home and have scored 19 times in front of their own fans already.

Lynn have lost their last two in the league on their travels.

FA Cup joy aside, they haven’t won away in the National League North since their trip to Peterborough Sports in August.

It’s going to be an intriguing and eventful night!
