The National League North Action Just Keeps On Coming!

By Sam Elliott

Scunthorpe United want top spot back in the National League North - and they want it tonight!

The Iron lost their grasp on the leadership after they were held at Alfreton Town on Saturday and Brackley Town defeated Warrington.

But Gavin Cowan’s Saints will stay ahead of them regardless if they slip up at King’s Lynn Town later on.

Scunthorpe will see it as a statement if they defeat a strong South Shields side who have taken ten points from a possible 12.

Tamworth need a lot to go their way but they could leapfrog all three of them if they win their game with Chorley tonight. But Andy Preece’s team have won their last three league matches and are playing with a real swagger.

What a start it was for Jim Bentley as Southport ended a 15 game winless run on Saturday as his first game ended in a very rare win after warning it will take time to turn thugs around!

Now he wants two from two as Port play host to Scarborough as Curzon Ashton want to put things right with victory against Peterborough Sports.

Bishop’s Stortford aren’t on the best of runs and are keen to see off Rushall Olympic as Alfreton make the trip to Banbury United.

Chester and Hereford have yet to find the consistency they crave and have the chance to get on a run when they meet at the Deva Stadium.

Darlington have so far has a season to forget but that could all change if they get the better of Boston United.

Buxton’s Samuel Osborne can’t stop scoring - will he keep firing and put Gloucester City to the sword?

Spennymoor won’t be fooled by Warrington Town’s wobbly few weeks and Jamie Chandler has called for focus ahead of their trip to Cantilever Park tonight. The Moors are in fifth and have already won twice on their travels.
