The Action Across The National League On Tuesday Night

By Sam Elliott

There were crucial points earned as well as FA Trophy progression on Tuesday night.

Hartlepool United won for the first time in four matches as they moved up to 13th - six points off the play-offs - by beating Eastleigh 2-1.

Gavin Holohan fired the hosts ahead before Sam Smart levelled in the blink of an eye. Pools took the points as a great move ended with Mark Shelton finding the net.

Hartlepool manager Dave Challinor said: “It could have become a frustrating evening but in the end I thought we deserved to win.”

National League South leaders Wealdstone lost a third away game in a row as Billericay maintain their unbeaten home record.

Femi Akinwande secured the 3-1 win in the closing stages after a late fightback by the ten man Stones.

Chippenham twice squandered a lead to Hemel Hempstead and missed the chance to move away from trouble as Sam Ashford again produced the goods for manager Sammy Moore.

Altrincham made it five wins in a row as they close in on the play-offs by beating Blyth Spartans 3-1. Jake Moult, Josh Hancock and Tom Peers got the goals as in-form Alty start to come on strong.

Curzon Ashton
picked up a useful point in their battle to avoid the drop by holding firm at Boston United.
