Ten Year Challenge! A Decade In The National League

By Tom Scott

The last decade has been a pretty interesting one in the National League - let's take a look at how the division was back in 2010.

Only three of the teams we had back then are still in the division now - Barrow, Wrexham and Ebbsfleet United.

It was Oxford who led the way when the clock ticked over into 2010 with Stevenage close behind, the Borough eventually clinching the title later that season.

York City, now in the National League North were third, largely boosted by Richard Brodie's goals.

The Minstermen ended up losing out to Chris Wilder's Oxford United in the play-off final after finishing fifth.

Newly-promoted AFC Wimbledon were going well in fourth but finished the season down in eighth, missing out on the play-offs.

Grays Athletic were the bottom side coming into the new decade and they couldn't beat the drop, in the end taking Ebbsfleet United with them.

We do still have a number of the teams who were in the division back then too.

York, Kettering, Kidderminster Harriers, Altrincham, and Gateshead now ply their trade in the National League North while Eastbourne Borough are in the South.

Reformed Chester also found their way back to the National League North.
