Teenage Keeper Signs First Pro Deal

Seventeen-year-old goalkeeper Patrick Wharton has signed his first professional contract with Tranmere Rovers.

The youngster, who has been in the club’s academy since the age of 12 having previously been in the youth set-ups at both Liverpool and Everton, got his first taste of involvement with the first team as an unused substitute in the final regular National League fixture of the 2016/17 season away at Maidstone United.

Tranmere manager Micky Mellon said: “The club has a proud history of bringing players through the academy and into the professional ranks and Patrick is the latest in the long line of players to have done so.

“He is a goalkeeper with a lot of potential, has good handling and distribution so we are looking forward to working further with him”.
