Saturday Preview: Vanarama National League

By David Richardson

Another Vanarama National League match day is almost upon and seven teams have the potential to go top.

Current league leaders Sutton United travel to fifth-placed Wrexham in the game of the day. The visitors beat Barrow 3-2 last week to sit atop of the division while the Reds won at Tranmere Rovers despite playing with ten men for 75 minutes.

Aldershot Town, in second, were knocked off top spot after squandering a two-goal lead at home to Leyton Orient. The shots head to eighth-placed Macclesfield Town, who have won three of their last four, while Orient are winless in four and host lowly AFC Fylde.

Second from bottom Solihull Moors face a difficult trip to Dover Atheltic, in third as rock bottom Torquay United also have a tough fixture at Dagenham and Redbridge.

In-form Woking have won five of their last six and will be going for a sixth home win of the season as they're visited by Hartlepool United, who's five-game unbeaten run came to an end last week.

Eastleigh were the side to beat Pools and they return to their Silverlake Stadium home to face Chester. New blues boss Marcus Bignot won his first game in charge against Maidenhead United.

Alan Devonshire's team take on a Guiseley side that have drawn their last four games under new boss Paul Cox.

Tranmere Rovers will hope they can finally get their season going at Bromley while Ebbsfleet United, after claiming their second win last season, host fourth-placed FC Halifax Town.

Jay Saunders' Maidstone United aim to make up for throwing away a two-goal lead last weekend as they head to Barrow.

Gateshead shock the Stones by rescuing a point with ten men and they're now at home to Boreham Wood.
