On This Day: Action From The Archives (April 6th)

By Tom Feaheny

On Easter Monday 6th April there was plenty on the line at both ends of the table in 2015.

There will still a lot to be decided although some sides knew they would be going down, while the battle at the top of the table intensified, writes Tom Feaheny.

Curtis Weston scored what proved to be the only goal on the half-hour mark, as top of the table Barnet gained victory against Dartford who were all but relegated after losing.

Dartford ended the day nine points from safety with three games remaining, Barnet, meanwhile remained a point clear of second-placed Bristol Rovers, who won at Kidderminster.

Two second-half goals from Ellis Harrison helped Bristol Rovers gain the win with Matty Taylor scoring a tap in to seal victory in stoppage time.

Grimsby Town kept pressure on the top places thanks to goals from Josh Gowling and Lenell John-Lewis as they won at Alfreton Town 2-0.

Forest Green Rovers moved back into the play-off positions with an impressive victory at Chester, striker Jon Parkin scored twice to move to 15 goals in 16 games.

This was during a 4-1 win for the side managed at the time by Ady Pennock.

Eastleigh moved to within two points off the play-off places following victory at struggling Welling, who ended up six points off safety.

Jai Reason and Jamie Turley scored for the Spitfires while Welling's goal came from Harry Osborne.

Substitute Rob Evans scored an injury-time equaliser to rescue a draw for Wrexham at Macclesfield.

Danny Whitaker finished calmly under pressure to give Macclesfield the lead but Connor Jennings, netting against his former club, made it level before the break.

Lee Bell then restored the hosts' lead when he nodded in a Scott Barrow cross.

Dover Athletic gained a 2-1 win against Woking.

Nuneaton Town were all-but relegated from the league after a home defeat to Braintree, they lost late with Dan Sparkes scoring the winner for Braintree Town.

Already relegation AFC Telford United gained three points after beating Southport 3-0, Bradley Reid, Tony Gray and Sam Smith were on the scoresheet.

Goals from Tristan Plummer and Glenn Wilson secured a win for Aldershot Town over Torquay United.

Michael Rankine's goal helped Gateshead beat Altrincham and end a run of five matches without a win for the Heed.

Lois Maynard scored a dramatic last-minute equaliser as FC Halifax Town extended their unbeaten run away at 10-man Lincoln City.

The hosts took the lead early on when Hamza Bencherif leapt to head home Tom Miller's cross from close range.
