Notts Take Top Spot As Goals Flow On A Big Night Of Drama

By Sam Elliott

We have different National League leaders for the third time in just four days as the first vs second game saw top spot change hands once again.

After Wrexham overtook Chesterfield on Saturday, Notts County now hit the summit after they leapfrogged the Dragons with a 1-0 victory.

It was that man again - Macaulay Langstaff - who hit the winner, his 15th goal of the season already as more than 10,000 watched on.

After no losses in the first seven weeks of the season, Chesterfield now have two inside half a week.

They came unstuck at home again, Dagenham doing all the damage in the first half to leave Paul Cook with a lot of thinking to do.

Paul McCallum scored twice and Junior Morais got the other as they held on for a 3-2 win.

Boreham Wood suffered their first defeat since mid-August as Adam Marriott fired Bromley to a third win in four games.

Solihull Moors are showing plenty of spirit, the avoided frustration as Joe Sbarra’s goal broke Wealdstone hearts.

The two relegated EFL clubs met and a Ben Tollitt penalty secured a 2-2 draw for Oldham Athletic at home to Scunthorpe United.

Altrincham seem to have turned a corner, Dan Malone put the seal on a great win at Gateshead as Aldershot and Eastleigh fired blanks.

FC Halifax know they need to stop the rot and they did that, winning 1-0 at home to York City, the decisive goal arriving from Rob Harker after 28 minutes.

Barnet have shipped ten goals in two games and there were defensive nerves as they held on to beat Maidstone United 4-3, Nicke Kabamba with what turned out to be the winner.

Marcus Dackers’ 66th minute effort gave Southend United a point at home to Woking.

Jimmy Muitt earned Dorking Wanderers a point at home to Yeovil Town while there was drama dished up late in both halves as Maidenhead United kept biting back at Torquay United to win it at the death.
