No Struggle Next Time Is Just Dandy For Fleet's Danny

Danny Searle will do everything in his power to ensure there’s no twitchy end to Ebbsfleet United’s season next time.

He is already working hard to try and ensure there won’t be a struggle against the drop next time - and his efforts begun as soon as the last whistle was blown.

Fleet survived on the final day of the National League campaign, holding firm at Boreham Wood to make certain they were the ones who prospered in the survival shoot out.

It was all too tense for the manager who doesn’t want his team to be anywhere near trouble next term.

“The players and stuff all embraced the philosophy that I brought into the club,” he told us following the escape act.

“I was immensely proud we managed to stay up. It would have been cruel to sink on the final day. If you look at the points accumulated since I came to the club, it is play-off form.

“To still even be in it was disappointing but credit to everyone else involved, they kept winning.

“But we backed ourselves, backed the squad and backed the environment. We knew if we followed our plan, we would be OK.

“The idea is now to make sure we’re not in trouble like this next year. We need to retain what we need to retain and recruit in the best way possible.”
