Military veterans unite for 80-mile charity cycle ahead of Easter Monday fixture

A group of military veterans are preparing for a mammoth bike ride next week with the aim of raising funds and awareness for two clubs' Community Trusts.

The ride takes place on Easter Monday from Carlisle United's Brunton Park home to Morecambe's Mazuma Mobile Stadium ahead of their Enterprise National League clash.

A unique show of endurance and community spirit, the ride - spanning 80 miles - will raise vital funds and awareness for Carlisle United Community Sports Trust and Morecambe Community Foundation.

Setting off in the early hours from Brunton Park at 7am on Monday 6 April, participants will embark on a demanding route - expecting to arrive in Morecambe at approximately 2.15pm - just in time for kick-off at 3pm.

The ride will bring together veterans representing both community organisations, highlighting camaraderie, resilience and mutual support while raising vital funds and awareness for veteran-focused projects delivered by the two charities.

These initiatives aim to support physical and mental wellbeing, social inclusion, and long-term rehabilitation for former service personnel.

The group say the event stands out as a powerful example of sport bringing communities together beyond the pitch, celebrating endurance, service, and solidarity across Cumbria and Lancashire.

All donations from the event will go directly towards funding and supporting veterans’ projects run by both organisations.

The group are currently over two-thirds of the way to their £2,000 fundraising target.
