Home Is Where The Heart Is But Does It Change Things?

By Sam Elliott

They say home form is critical when it comes to success. Get it right in front of your own fans, and good results on the road will surely come.

But what would the National League table look like based purely on home form?

We’ve struck away result from the record totally to see - and it certainly makes for interesting reading!

Top of the lot are Wrexham, standing proud with their Racecourse results a match for nobody. Winning 14 times and losing only three, they have a three point advantage.

Behind them in second is AFC Fylde - and having played a game less, they’re still fighting for the home form kings crown! Wrexham have 45 points, and the Coasters’ Mill Farm haul stands at 42 points.

It’s tight at the top, and Salford are third with 41 points, just in front of actual leaders Leyton Orient who have a record of played 19, won 12, drawn 4 and lost 3.

In fifth are Solihull Moors, and then come Harrogate Town and Sutton United.

One side leaping up the rankings and wish they could play at home every week are FC Halifax Town - they would be a win away from the play-offs if this table was reality!

Down at the bottom it’s clear Maidstone United’s loyal fans will be hoping for better next season. Despite not being bottom of the real thing, they’re lagging behind when it comes to results at the Gallagher Stadium.

One thing John Sheridan will target next season is more victories for Chesterfield at the Proact - just 23 points at home means they’re in the home form relegation table.

Havant manager Lee Bradbury knows his side’s last three home game with be crucial as their home form is keeping them in with a survival chance.

Dagenham, Hartlepool, Barnet, Boreham Wood and Maidenhead all have 27 points on the board in front of their fans - so here’s how the table would look.
