Stones' Five New Faces Are Already Feeling At Home

The new Stones boss flooded his team full of fresh faces in a bid to turn their season around.

They did just that in the huge game at the bottom, and the 1-0 win was their first victory since beating Barrow, ending a run of six straight defeats.

It was enough to move them out of the bottom four and Wheeler knows they’ll only get better.

“It was just the reaction I wanted from the players, they gave me everything they had,” he said.

“Even though we won it very late through a penalty kick, I don’t think there’s any doubt that we deserve to leave the ground with three points.

“We defended like warriors and we didn’t let them get at us - it was a perfect away performance in a lot of ways.

“There’s more to come from this side. We signed five new players on Friday so it will take its time but this is a massive step in the right direction.

“We worked, we battled, we kept composed and that’s everything we need going forward.”
