Ferriby Dumped Out Of The Cup By Minnows

By Steve Whitney

Hallmark Security League Premier Division club 1874 Northwich classed their Emirates FA Cup Second Qualifying Round tie at home against Vanarama National League North strugglers North Ferriby United as the biggest game in their short history.

The club have only been in existence for five years, formed by disenchanted fans of Northwich Victoria, and they have made rapid strides since 2012.

They had only reached the Preliminary Round in previous seasons, so had already achieved their best run in the FA Cup – and now they are in tomorrow`s draw for the Third Qualifying Round after dumping out the Villagers.

And what proved to be the only goal of the game on 63 minutes was a real choker for Ferriby`s Kyle Dixon who, having come off the bench less than a minute earlier, slid in to block a cross into the box and could only poke the ball past his own keeper Ross Durrant.
