Ground Plans Given The Green Light As Harrogate Aim High

Harrogate Town may not have had the best few days on the pitch, but off it the club received some vital news.

The National League North club's application to redevelop their stadium has granted approval, they have announced.

Harrogate lost their battle to win the title on Saturday as they slid to defeat at Bradford Park Avenue. It handed Salford City the championship and now Simon Weaver's side face the play-offs.

But at a meeting of Harrogate Borough Council's planning committee, their fantastic plans for the the CNG Stadium were rubber-stamped.

The green light means capacity will increase from under 3,000 to 5,000.

Fans can look forward to a new two-storey clubhouse, seated terraces, community facilities including classrooms and more office space to boost their Wetherby Road home considerably.

Managing Director Garry Plant told the club’s website: "The football club has been at the heart of the Harrogate community for nearly 100 years.

“We are delighted that the planning committee supported this sensitively designed scheme which will help us achieve our ambitions.

“The club is committed to delivering a high quality facility that the local community can be proud of."
