Easter Monday In The Vanarama National League South

By Sam Elliott

Havant fans woke up this morning fearing Dartford would overtake them - but things have totally changed.

The battle of the Hawks between Lee Bradbury’s pacesetters and Steve King’s Whitehawk was the subject of a Monday morning pitch inspection.

They had good news and it's game on at the Enclosed Ground - but while that goes ahead it’s bad news for Dartford.

Their game at East Thurrock United was called off at 10.30am so the leaders can really stretch their legs against the basement boys.

A number of play-off rivals lock horns and the top seven picture could be a little clearer soon.

Hampton & Richmond welcome Welling United to the Beveree, while St Albans City have a visit from 8th place Braintree Town.

Wealdstone’s promotion light will go out if they lose at Hemel Hempstead, whose own play-off ambitions will be boosted if Dean Brennan’s team can be successful at Vauxhall Road.

But Lee Hodges’ Truro City - who have won four of their last five National League South matches - couldn't take a giant step towards confirming their place against Weston-super-Mare.It's game off in Somerset.

Jamie Howell left Bognor Regis to join Eastbourne Borough days after winning promotion and he welcomes his old club to Priory Lane. It hasn’t been a season for either to remember.

The Rocks are second from bottom and now need a miracle to escape but it’s hardly been perfect for Howell at his new club as they have flattered to deceive. More will be expected next season.

There is a huge game down the bottom of the table on and it’s must win for third from bottom Poole Town who take on fourth from bottom Hungerford.

Poole have 32 points and have played a game more than Hungerford - who sit on 37 with a month to go.

Elsewhere, Chelmsford City can keep Concord Rangers in trouble if they beat their Essex rivals at Melbourne.

Oxford City and Chippenham are both likely safe but whoever wins their meeting on Monday can start planning for next season in the league for sure.

Bath City face Gloucester knowing that realistically they must win if they are to get into the play-offs.
