Dutton Joins Boro

By Steve Whitney

Tommy Widdrington, manager of Vanarama National League South club Eastbourne Borough, continues his team-building with the...

...announcement that he has agreed terms with vastly experienced 31-year-old defender or midfielder Brian Dutton.

Dutton's most recent club was Havant & Waterlooville, but he has wide experience at National League as well as National League South and North levels.

"Brian is a lad whom I have signed and worked with before," commented Widdrington. "His character and fitness epitomises what we need here at the Lane. He has experienced getting promotion out of this league numerous times, and I am sure all supporters will join me in welcoming Brian to the club."

Dutton hails originally from Yorkshire and his previous clubs include York City and Cambridge United.

His particular achievement - and one which will not be unnoticed at Borough - is to have led Salisbury City, as their captain, to two successive promotions, to Conference South and then - in a dramatic extra-time play-off against Dover Athletic - to the then Conference National.

Dutton knows that promotion feeling - and he will surely be looking to repeat the experience between now and next April.
