Chesterfield & Yeovil Look To Smile For The Cameras Again

By Sam Elliott

BT Sport’s focus shifts to two teams who really wish they were welcoming the cameras with more of a smile on their faces.

Both Chesterfield and Yeovil Town had hoped things would be a little different in the build up to Saturday’s live game.

It was supposed to be a magnificent homecoming for Paul Cook but things haven’t gone to plan since he agreed to return.

He knows Glovers counterpart Darren Sarll well.

Yeovil’s manager has been wondering what if himself - and wants his team to come of age and try to inspire a late surge.

Chesterfield still have title focus but know they need to get back on track and fast.

They have taken two points from a possible 12 - and to make matters worse, leaders Stockport County continue to be unrelenting as the Spireites’ injury list grows by the game.

Their defender Laurence Maguire knows they can come through what has been a very challenging February for the club.

The 25-year-old told the media on Friday: "How do we come through this? We get through this with togetherness.

“It's been a tough couple of games but it's time for us to step up. It's been a great season so far and we're still in a great position”

On Cook’s arrival, he said: "He's been brilliant since he's come in. It's been difficult with the injuries and what not. However, we're all enjoying him being here.

“We want to try and get back into the Football League. That's the goal."

Yeovil boss Sarll also wishes February had been kinder.

No wins but four draws from their five games this month underlines the fact they aren’t far away - but the Somerset side are missing that special something at the moment.

“The players and I are hugely ambitious - we don’t want to be a mid-table team,” he told the club’s video player following Tuesday’s 1-1 draw at Maidenhead United.

“The last two away games should have been six points, not two.

“Our play is improving, but I really want us to be more than an improving team.”

He feels a game against title-chasing Chesterfield is just what his young team needs right now.

“This is a good game for us, I like these games,” he added.

“They will come and play against you. I have known Paul for quite some time and he’s a charismatic character, it should be a good game.

“Now is the time for us to take the training wheels off and say ‘come on, what have we got now’.

“I’m asking them if we’re going to be in this learning phase forever. Unfortunately for them, I’m not in my learning phase! I want to make some great memories with this football club and I want to take them with me.”
