Champagne Now On Ice As Chesterfield Go 23-Points Clear

Chesterfield require a maximum of four more wins to secure the Vanarama National League title as they left second place Barnet with victory.

Paul Cook’s side are 23 points clear with less than two months to go - and the champagne is on ice.

Will Grigg put the seal on the win in north London after Michael Jacobs’ first half opener. Now the countdown is on and they could be crowned champions within a fortnight.

The race to avoid the drop is intense and Phil Brown continues to work his magic at Kidderminster Harriers. Jack Lambert made it three points at Solihull Moors to make it six wins from seven.

Woking survived an extra 15 minutes of their match with Gateshead to take a three points that keeps their hopes alive. The won 3-2 thanks to Ricky Korboa’s 87th minute winner.

Two-goal Cian Hayes continued his great form as Rochdale brushed aside Wealdstone. Joe Garner also bagged a double as Oldham Athletic’s long trip to Eastleigh was worthwhile.

Southend United made in three wins from three as they turned it around against Altrincham. Chris Conn-Clarke gave the visitors an early lead before Harry Cardwell and Wes Fonguck flipped the match on its head.

It was a great day for the strugglers in the National League North.

Owen Oseni scored twice as Rushall Olympic gave their season a boost with a thumping 4-1 win at Farsley Celtic. Darlington stunned Curzon Ashton - Andrew Nelson scored again for the Quakers.

King’s Lynn picked up a decent draw at Alfreton Town. Jake Day made it 1-1 after Cameron Hargreaves opened the scoring.

Chorley faint title hopes are surely over - Morgan Roberts earned Brackley Town all three points.

Buxton stunned in-form Boston United, Dan Jarvis scored again for Peterborough Sports as they won 3-0 at ten man Banbury as Rob Ramshaw’s 95h minute goal gave Spennymoor Town and enjoyable long trip home from Bishop’s Stortford.

Braintree Town win for the seventh game on the tot to enhance their National League South promotion chances.

Aaron Blair and Shaq Coulthirst were on target to turn things around at Bath City in front of over 1,200 fans.

The play-off race is heating up, Hampton & RB were too strong for sinking Havant & Waterlooville and Siju Odelusi’s late penalty handed Aveley victory at Dartford. Zane Banton reduced a very late point for St Albans at Weymouth.

Welling United move ahead of Truro City and out of the drop zone after winning 3-2 against the White Tigers.

Charlie Ruff scored once again for Chelmsford City but it wasn’t enough for a win at Farnborough. Harry Ghandour found the net to make it 1-1 for Spencer Day’s team.
