What Lies Ahead For The National League South Title Chasers?

By Tom Scott

If the National League South title race was a boxing match it would probably be decided by the scorecards.

Both Woking and Torquay United have been looking for that final knockout blow but with just over a month to go, they’re separated by just a point.

We’re charting the run-ins of both sides’ final games before the silver is dished out.

Woking

Although Woking have arguably the easier of the two run-ins, that doesn’t mean it will be a walk in the park for Alan Dowson’s men.

A huge showdown with their title rivals Torquay United is the showpiece for a run of four games against promotion contenders including Bath, Chelmsford and Concord Rangers.

A trip to Dulwich Hamlet on the penultimate day of the season awaits while Slough Town and Gloucester are still to visit the Kingfield.

Woking remaining fixtures:
March 23 – Slough Town (H)
March 30 – Bath City (A)
April 6 – Torquay United (H)
April 13 – Chelmsford City (A)
April 20 – Concord Rangers (H)
April 22 – Dulwich Hamlet (A)
April 27 – Gloucester City (H)

Torquay United

Gary Johnson could have his work cut out if he wants to take Torquay all the way to the title. The Gulls face six top-half sides in their remaining eight outings.

Wealdstone and Chelmsford head to Plainmoor looking to boost their own National League aspirations while Concord, Chippenham and St Albans will be in the sat nav for the Gulls – there’s also the small matter of a trip to Woking.

Plainmoor plays host to Eastbourne and Hungerford to make up a final eight games that could make or break the title race.

Torquay United remaining fixtures:
March 23 – Concord Rangers (A)
March 30 – Wealdstone (H)
April 2 – Chelmsford City (H)
April 6 – Woking (A)
April 13 – Eastbourne Borough (H)
April 19 – Chippenham Town (A)
April 22 – Hungerford Town (H)
April 27 – St Albans City (A)
