The Bank Holiday Monday National League Review

By Sam Elliott

Woking continue to play their Cards right - but the temperature is certainly starting to rise in the National League thanks to a sweltering Bank Holiday weekend.

Alan Dowson’s side sent out yet another message as they came from behind to win late at Dover Athletic.

The Whites went in front through Ricky Modeste but Woking just don’t know when they’re beaten it seems.

Jake Hyde got another goal to level it up at the break. Returning Toby Edser’s fantastic winner sealed yet another victory for the newly-promoted side, who have now won six from seven.

Bromley would have gone top but for the late drama on the Kent coast.

Neil Smith’s impressive team came from behind to win 2-1 at fellow strong starters Maidenhead - Reeco Hackett-Fairchild at the double to make things very interesting at the top.

In the live BT Sport evening match, there was a shock on the small screen.

Eastleigh, statistically the worst away side so far this season, won 2-1 at title chasing Solihull Moors.

Danny Hollands was the two-goal hero. Mitch Hancock’s reply wasn’t enough.

FC Halifax’s dream start to the season shows no sign of slowing down.

Pete Wild’s team have shocked everyone in August and they came from behind at Barrow, so good at Holker Street to win 2-1.

Liam McAliden’s powerful penalty on the hour mark proved to be the difference.

Hartlepool put on perhaps their best display of the season as they unsaddled Wrexham 4-2.

Two goals each from Gime Toure and Liam Noble was just what manager Craig Hignett was after.

Ebbsfleet United secured their first win of the season - and a former player added to Boreham Wood’s woes in the process.

Garry Hill’s team are off the bottom thanks to the 2-1 success with the winning goal arriving from Gozie Ugwu.

Chesterfield still haven’t won and they came unstuck at Stockport County who are loving life back in the National League.

Goals from Elliot Osborne and Nyal Bell after half-time made it another great afternoon for Jim Gannon and the club’s fans - but the same can’t be said for counterpart John Sheridan.

Chorley’s leaky defence is proving to be a problem for manager Jamie Vermiglio.

They are now bottom and have let in 17 goals already after Notts County - pictured - ran riot.

Neal Ardley’s team are getting it together and the 5-1 win came thanks to goals from Wes Thomas (2) Nathan Tyson, Kristian Dennis and Enzio Boldewijn.

James Collins thought his penalty winner was enough for Sutton United at Aldershot but he didn’t count on 22-year-old Jacob Berkeley-Agyepong scoring with the final kick off the game as Danny Searle’s side secured a late 1-1 draw.

AFC Fylde still can’t get their season going quite as they would have liked. Harrogate frustrated them at Mill Farm as neither could break the deadlock.

Dagenham will feel they are really up and running now thanks to a last gasp win over Yeovil.

It looked to be heading for a draw until Joe Quigley in the fifth minute of time added on did the business for Peter Taylor. The Daggers edged it 3-2.

Barnet scored in the closing stages too - Jack Taylor on target as the Bees pegged back Torquay, 2-2 it was at the Hive.
