Now York Snap Up Nti

By Steve Whitney

Vanarama National League newcomers York City have completed the signing of winger Daniel Nti from National League North side Worcester City for an undisclosed fee.

The 23-year-old signed a two-year contract at Bootham Crescent and becomes manager Jackie McNamara’s second signing of the day, following the arrival of Newport County`s Yan Klukowski (see separate news item).

The 6ft attacker began his senior career with Midland League outfit Loughborough University and bagged 49 goals in his second season with the club, before Worcester snapped him up in 2013.

Nti continued his fine form in front of goal with the Blues, netting 16 goals in his first campaign, while also collecting the club’s young player of the year and top goalscorer awards.

Goals continued to flow in his second season in the sixth tier of English football, as he scored 15 throughout the campaign, including a strike against League One outfit Scunthorpe United in the Second Round of the FA Cup.

The winger once again hit double figures last season and was named in the National League North Team of the Year following his consistent performances on the right wing.

In total, Nti made 130 starts for Worcester City, scoring 44 goals and achieving 26 assists.
