National League Clubs Pay Their Respects To Eric Harrison

By Tom Scott

A number of National League clubs have paid tribute to the late Eric Harrison who sadly passed away last night.

Harrison was 81-years-old and enjoyed a long and successful career in football, spending several years with a handful of our sides.

He first played for FC Halifax Town and the club paid their respects on their website.

"FC Halifax Town would like to pass on their condolences to the family and friends of former Halifax Town player Eric Harrison," a statement read.

"He started his career with the Shaymen making nearly 200 appearances between 1957 and 1964."

Southport also passed on their condolences after Harrison made 80 appearances in a two-year period with the Port.

Harrison had two spells with Barrow as first, a player and then a player/coach - ultimately making over 150 appearances for the club.

The club posted a tribute that read, "all at Barrow AFC are saddened to learn of the passing of former Bluebirds midfielder Eric Harrison."

Harrison also represented Hartlepool United throughout a superb playing career.
