Harrison: Every Player Stood Out During Win

Hartlepool United boss Craig Harrison was full of praise for his side as they gained their first win at home in the Vanarama National League.

The Pools gained a 3-1 win against Maidstone United and made it back to back wins in the process, writes Tom Feaheny.

Speaking to the club's website after the victory that saw them climb out of the relegation places and up to eight points for the season, Harrison was delighted with what he saw.

"Every one of them did brilliant though – they did exactly what we asked of them and more. It could have been game over by half time but then they started the second half well so our second goal was against the run of play – but after that I don’t think it was ever in any doubt.

He added praise for youngster Connor Simpson who scored: “We kept the ball well, we created more chances and it was great for Connor to score – we weren’t scared to throw him in and his all-round play was good."

Harrison was also pleased with the mentality of his side after they overcame a tricky start to the campaign.

“As a group we have stuck together so I am pleased for them but also for the fans because they’ve come out in their droves again to support the team.”
