Fylde Must Build On FA Cup Win In National League

By David Richardson

Dave Challinor says AFC Fylde can use their impressive win over Wrexham in the FA Cup to improve their fortunes in the Vanarama National League.

Danny Rowe's single goal was enough to see the Coasters through to the FA Cup first round against a Wrexham side currently 5th in the league.

Fylde had only won once in their last eight games and now Challinor wants this win to boost their league form.

"Sometimes this competition can be used for different things," he said. "I think it's come at a good time for us. We've got to use this result as a springboard now, that's what we tried to do with the game.

"We picked as strong a team as we could without risking people who may have been 70/30 to play. It's something for us to build on.

"It's a clean sheet with a different system for us and some new players, who have come in and done a really good job. We're deservedly through to the next round."
