Askey: Depth Of Squad Key This Season

John Askey praised the number of players that can make an impact in the team after they beat Bury.

The victory against the League One side was down to a Scott Wilson strike, writes Tom Feaheny.

After the win Askey told the club's website, it was pleasing to make changes from the weekend squad and still get a good performance.

“It’s great that we are able to change the squad around so much playing against a league One side. We’re competing so it bodes well, but we won’t get too carried away, but obviously it’s important to us and what we’re looking for in the run up to the season.”

They next face Vanarama National League North opposition in Stockport County at the weekend with Askey saying they will look to ensure their starting eleven get a good number of minutes under their belt.

“I think it’ll be a more realistic game and more of what we’ll expect on Saturday. I’m looking forward to the Stockport game because I think well have a better idea then of where we are.

“We’ll probably reduce it down a little bit because we’ve got to get to a stage where we’re getting more organised and working on things, and hopefully we can and sign 1 or 2 more before Saturday.”
