Ambalu Pens Villagers Deal

North Ferriby United’s pre-season preparations got under way today.

Steve Housham and Darryn Stamp had around two dozen players at the first pre-season training session.

As always at these sessions, there was a mix of old and new faces and Housham and Stamp were pleased with the way the session went.

Both they and the players will now be looking forward to the pre-season game which will really show how those players not yet on contracts can perform.

Stamp said: “In some ways, this pre-season is not much different to last in assembling a squad.

“The spine of the team had been ripped out at the end of the previous season and the same has happened this close season. Usually you try to build your team around a spine of keeper, central defence, central midfield and strikers. We’ve had to replace players in those key positions on both occasions. We are getting there, but it takes time.”

Meanwhile, Ferriby welcomed Joel Ambalu (pictured) and welcomed back Jake Skelton.

Ambalu is a 22-year-old Congolese striker who came through the West Bromwich Albion youth system.

He joins Ferriby from Midland League Premier Division side Coleshill Town, having also played for Torquay United.

Skelton need no introduction to Villagers` supporters as he played thirty-one times for the club last season and scored twice.

As a former Leeds United player, he will no doubt be looking forward to the pre-season fixture with them on 12th July.
