Just because there was exciting FA Cup action on offer, that didn’t mean the battle for points was halted with more intrigue at the top of both divisions.

South Shields strengthened their grip on the Enterprise National League North leadership with a crushing display.

They rolled Calum McIntrye’s Southport over 5-1 - Cedwyn Scott scored twice, with Paul Blackett, Adam Campbell and Jack Roles also on target.

Hednesford added to Morecambe’s issue with a 6-2 victory - Jamie Cooke scored an incredible hat-trick for the impressive Pitmen. Dylan Mottley-Henry added two, with Jamie Morgan sealing the deal.

Hereford are back on track and up to second after a 2-1 win at Chorley. Cawley Cox scored both goals for the Bulls.

Merthyr Town won 4-1 against Hebburn - Ellis Watts and Morgan Wigley added some extra time gloss.

Connor Woods’ late penalty saw Chester take the points home from nine man Brackley Town.

Louis Mount backed up a brilliant October as he carried on his good form. AFC Telford beat Spalding United 2-1.

Ross Crane but the seal on King’s Lynn Town 2-0 win at home to struggling Spennymoor Town.

Elsewhere, Scarborough Athletic came from 2-0 down to pinch a point from Buxton, Rio Allan’s penalty made it 2-2.

Ebbsfleet United return to the top of the Enterprise National League South.

They needed a late Harvey Walker goal to defeat Chesham United, and it was a challenging day for the morning’s leaders Truro City.

The Tinners’ game at Folkestone Invicta was called off after the visitors’ midfielder Yassine En-Neyah suffered a medical emergency and was taken to hospital in Ashford.

Truro confirmed he was “sitting up and talking” after the incident and promised to keep fans updated.

Maidstone United recorded an important 2-1 win at Hemel Hempstead to go second. Riley Court and Ryan Hanson scored the goals.

Elliot Long was at the double as Billericay Town stopped Dagenham & Redbridge jumping over them, 2-2 it ended.

Jack Barham’s penalty handed Chelmsford City all three points against Farnborough.

Bobby-Joe Taylor put the seal on Farnham Town’s home win against Tonbridge Angels. The 3-1 win moves them up into fourth.

Luke Coulson’s two goals helped Weston to an easy win over Braintree Town, while Slough secured three vital points against relegation rivals Walton & Hersham.

Hampton & RB’s wait for win goes on but they were boosted by debutant Jack Cook’s very late leveller against Maidenhead United.

Josh Sims, Declan Rose and Luke Hallett were all on target for AFC Totton, who move a little further away from trouble with victory at Horsham.
