Hold onto your hats, there’s an FA Cup storm brewing - and our clubs are in the mood to whip up a cyclone!

Over recent years we have been treated to some incredible antics with the likes of Tamworth, Macclesfield, Maidstone United and Boreham Wood all producing a hurricane of headlines.

So, who will be this year’s heroes from the National League? The first round has thrown up some very tasty ties!

It all begins on Friday night as Oxford City look to bring the chaos with 2015 Premier League champions Leicester City nervously making their way to Court Place Farm.

Nomads manager Ross Jenkins said: “We've got to realise that they're going to be a top-quality opposition. We're going to respect that.

“But as soon as the whistle goes, we have to try and play our stuff. "We have to be front-footed, aggressive, switched on.”

Wigan Athletic, the competition’s winners back in 2013, won’t be relishing their visit to unbeaten Boreham Wood.

Another club with a rich FA Cup history face a tough test on the road - League One Blackpool head to Hornchurch with the form hardly inspiring confidence.

Other League One clubs are on red alert as they try to avoid being one of the first round weekend’s big stories.

Marine, who beat Hartlepool United away in the last round, were rewarded with a big game at Bradford City’s Valley Parade - and they are taking more than a thousand fans to Yorkshire.

Kidderminster Harriers welcome Doncaster Rovers while Luton Town - in the Premier League just three years ago - come up against Forest Green Rovers.

Scott Davies has called for Aldershot Town to give it all they’ve got at Barnsley.

Altrincham won’t be fearing Notts County when they arrive for the live Saturday night tie, kick off is at 5.30pm.

Meanwhile Enterprise National League North Harborough Town have a trip to London as they head to Leyton Orient.

Scunthorpe United have the small matter of last year’s quarter-finals Port Vale to take care of but this year the Valliants are struggling in League Two.

We will be represented in round two whatever happens after Dover Athletic drew Wealdstone as Harrogate Town also cross paths with AFC Fylde.

Salisbury will fancy their chances at home to Sholing, while Carlisle United are underdogs against big spending Salford as Eastleigh host Shrewsbury Town and Cheltenham try to halt FC Halifax Town.

Sutton United are trying to avoid being a story - Northern League Guiseley are gunning for them at Nethermoor.

The winners bank a cheque for £47,750 from the FA’s prize pot, with the sides defeated next month still earning £15,800.
