3UP
29 October 25
Politicians from both sides of the House were present to listen to a delegation of National League Board members who outlined their plans to Put Football First at the forthcoming 3UP Day of Action on Saturday 15 November.
Later today, our widely popular campaign for three promotion places is set to be raised directly with Sir Keir Starmer as part of Prime Minister’s Questions.
Parliamentarians present for the APPG session included Chair, Clive Betts MP, Jonathan Brash MP, Anneliese Dodds MP, Lord Evans, Lord Faulkner, Shadow Minister for DCMS Louie French MP, Liz Jarvis MP, Ian Lavery MP, Rachael Maskell MP, Julie Minns MP, Toby Perkins MP, Lord Watson and Paul Waugh MP.
The Football Supporters APPG contributed to the staging of the event and were represented on the day by their Chair, Ian Lavery MP plus a delegation from the Football Supporters Association (FSA) who perform the role of Secretariat. The FSA has recently adopted 3UP as official policy at their summer AGM.
Westminster protocols mean that the discussion is private, however a spokesperson for the National League commented: “We are extremely encouraged by the huge interest shown by so many politicians since the 3UP campaign launched. To date, over 50 MPs from all major parties have now actively supported the campaign in various ways.”
A current example of the active political support for 3UP is Jonathan Brash, MP for Hartlepool, who today plans to raise the campaign directly with The Rt Hon. Sir Keir Starmer KCB KC MP as part of Prime Minister’s Questions. Mr Brash has also indicated that following today’s Parliamentary session, he intends to sponsor a request for a Backbench Business Debate on our campaign in the week following the 3UP Day of Action.
