The nominations for Manager of the Month are...
Kelvin Davis (Hednesford Town)
Life in the Enterprise National League North is treating the newly promoted Pitmen very nicely indeed. Four wins from five, three of them clean sheets, lifted Davis’ side from 15th to 7th, the biggest climb in the division over the course of October. The highlight was a 1-0 win at Hereford that ended the Bulls’ unbeaten home record and knocked them off top spot, while Brackley Town, Spalding United and Chester were also beaten.
Mike Williamson (South Shields)
The Mariners started October in fourth and climbed to top of the pile. After losing a seven-goal thriller at Macclesfield, Williamson’s men won every league game that followed: coming from behind to beat Chester, edging out Spennymoor Town, then holding on with ten men to win 3-1 at Oxford City in a 1st v 3rd fixture. Buxton were knocked out of the FA Cup too, and they almost hauled back a three-goal deficit against National League Halifax in the next round.
Kevin Wilkin (AFC Telford United)
A month that started in 21st ended with Telford four points clear of trouble. Wilkin’s changes made the difference: Kian Ryley came off the bench and won it against Darlington in stoppage time, and Jamie Meddows struck as a substitute against Hebburn Town. Back-to-back away wins at Hereford and Southport then rounded off a fine few weeks for the Bucks.
Ross Jenkins (Oxford City)
A second nomination of the season for Jenkins, whose side climbed to second and booked a first-round FA Cup date with Leicester City live on TNT. Enfield were thrashed 6-1, and Torquay United were beaten on their own patch. In the league, City handed Hebburn Town their first home defeat and saw off Merthyr Town 3-0.
The nominations for Player of the Month are...
Toby Onanaye (South Shields)
A key figure as the Mariners went top, Onanaye struck the winner against Chester before scoring twice inside 20 minutes in the top-of-the-table clash at Oxford City. He was just as influential in the FA Cup, scoring and setting up the winner at Buxton and finding the net again at Halifax.
Aaron Jarvis (Hednesford Town)
When the Pitmen needed a goal, Jarvis delivered. His early strike settled the 1-0 at Hereford that knocked the Bulls off top, and he did it again with a first-half stoppage-time winner at Chester. Add the flick that set up the equaliser in the comeback win over Brackley Town, and he was at the heart of Hednesford’s charge up the table.
Louis Moult (AFC Telford United)
The experienced striker came up with the goods when it mattered most. Moult struck the only goal at Hereford, then four days later scored the winner at Southport. Those two goals turned a pair of draws into wins and lifted Telford clear of the relegation places.
Sisa Tuntulwana (Buxton)
Nominated for the second time this season, Tuntulwana had a hand in goal after goal as Buxton climbed to fifth. He scored in wins over Chorley and Harborough Town, and added four assists, three of them in one afternoon in the 4-2 win over Marine. His long throw also led to the equaliser that rescued a point against Worksop Town.
