Funds are available for a wide range of projects: such as football and sport in schools, for women and girls, and those with disabilities. Some choose to work with those at risk of anti-social behaviour or young offenders, and those excluded from school. Many offer support on health issues, such as advice on diet and exercise, and for those with mental health needs. There are also activities for older people – walking football is always popular, and some deliver social and engagement projects.
For some ideas of successful projects please look at our case studies.

Launched in 2017, Premier League Primary Stars uses the appeal of the Premier League and professional football clubs to improve and enhance physical education (PE) and other curriculum areas, developing skills and values that are crucial to success in later life.
The programme, delivered by the Premier League Foundation, provides primary schools in England and Wales with free digital resources and content to help bring learning to life through PE, PSHE, Maths and English. These resources can be complemented by educational sessions delivered by staff from over 100 professional Football Club Community Organisations in local partner schools.
The objectives of the programme are that professional football clubs will:
enable children to take part in and enjoy more football, sport and physical activity
support teachers with the knowledge, skills and confidence to deliver PE and sport
help children gain the skills they need to reach their goals
increase children's interest, understanding and confidence in English and Maths
Learning is connected to the real world of sport to enthuse pupils when tackling challenging PSHE (Personal, Social, Health, Economic education) topics such as resilience, diversity, self-esteem and fair play. Over 20 million children have benefited from the programme.
Staff from over 100 professional football club community organisations across PL, EFL and NL support thousands of teachers to deliver fun, educational sessions in a range of subjects within local partner schools. Competitions range from national football tournaments to creative writing and reading challenges for reluctant readers.
