Wrexham Fans Open Their Wallets To Back Their New Boss

By Sam Elliott

Wrexham supporters have certainly put their money where their mouth is over the past few weeks.

The club’s Build the Budget campaign has already raised nearly £25,000.

That’s a huge boost to new manager Sam Ricketts as he tried to piece together a team strong enough for promotion from the National League.

Every penny raised goes towards his playing budget for the new campaign and the investment has been warmly received.

“I've been astounded by the passion of Wrexham fans towards the club since joining, to have raised almost twenty five thousand pounds in just a couple of weeks to invest in our squad for the season is amazing,” he told the club’s website.

"I want to say thank each and every one of them that has invested so far and to those who will do so in the coming weeks.

“There is an incredible amount of conversations taking place behind the scenes to build a squad we can all be proud of next season."

Wrexham’s one signing so far this close season has been Luke Young, the Torquay United midfielder.

Ricketts says fans may not have to wait much longer for the next new addition as he plots a push for promotion in his first season at the Racecourse.
