Wood Add To Latics’ Woes As Shaymen Close In On Play-offs

By Sam Elliott

There was plenty of action across the National League divisions tonight as fuel was added to the promotion fire - and team start to get twitchy down the bottom.

Oldham Athletic’s National League adventure is fast turning into a total nightmare and they threw away a point late on at Boreham Wood, pictured.

Ben Tollitt thought he had done enough to earn a 1-1 draw but Lee Ndlovu a minute into time added on scored his second of the game - and there will be plenty to contemplate on the way home.

FC Halifax are on the charge again and are now just two points outside the play-offs after beating Dorking 3-1.

Goals from Jamie Cooke, Kian Spence and Tylor Golden earned another home win.

There was a statement result in the National League South - Ebbsfleet United showed exactly why they are so many people’s title favourites.

They won 6-0 at Worthing, days after the Rebels crushed Havant & Waterlooville, Fleet’s championship rivals.

Dom Poleon got them on their way with two goals in the first half and coach Dennis Kutrieb was understandably thrilled.

He told the club’s media team: “Not one weak performance through the team and that was amazing. I can't even say it was clinical because we could have scored more but how can you moan after a 6-0?"

Chelmsford City also couldn’t follow up a great weekend win.

They went down 2-1 to a Jayden Clarke-inspired Dulwich Hamlet in a tetchy game that drew three red cards.

Elliot Romain’s winner for Hemel Hempstead saw off Bath City, while Farnborough won it very late at Welling United through Olly Pendlebury.

Jack Wood confirmed Tonbridge’s victory over in-form Eastbourne Borough as Zack Newton scored both as Cheshunt won 2-0 against Dover Athletic.

The games between Oxford City and Braintree and Slough Town vs Concord Rangers ended goalless.

The heat was increased on National League North leaders Brackley Town.

The table toppers drew 0-0 in a hard fought battle at Leamington.

But Darlington’s 2-0 win at Curzon Ashton as in-form Jacob Hazel and Jack Lambert took the Quakers to within a point of Brackley.

Scarborough are now third after they beat Peterborough Sports, who had won their last three. The winner came from Ciaran McGuckin.

King’s Lynn Town slipped to a shock 2-0 defeat at Farsley Celtic.

Michael Gysai hit a 92nd minute winner as Gloucester left it late at Kettering Town.

Joe Tate’s winner for Spennymoor Town broke Boston United hearts as Chorley’s Harvey Smith denied Hereford all three points at Edgar Street.
