What's Ahead In The National League This Evening?

By Sam Elliott

We’ve got no fewer than eight matches coming your way tonight – and most of the fixtures have something big riding on them.

Torquay United returned to top spot for the first time since February on Saturday.

Now, Gary Johnson says, the Gulls need to figure out how they are going to stay there with the intense run-in already underway.

With home games coming up, they have the opportunity to dig their heels in and show the rest that they will take some moving.

Aldershot Town arrive at Plainmoor still not totally out of the play-off picture.

It’s not a case of title nerves for Sutton United, their manager Matt Gray was quick to stress after defeat at Eastleigh on Saturday.

The last thing they needed was a game with a team in-form but under Simon Bassey and Dave Anderson Barnet are a totally different proposition. The Bees will be a tough nut to crack at Gander Green Lane.

Just when you think Stockport County’s championship race is run, they go and get a result like they managed at Boreham Wood at the weekend.

Weeks after being thrashed 4-0 by the Hatters, what can King’s Lynn Town do on home turf?

There’s a huge play-off clash between Bromley and Chesterfield, and James Rowe’s team return to the top seven with victory at Hayes Lane.

But under Andy Woodman, the Ravens are ravenous - they are looking for a fifth win on the spin later on.

One of those wins came at Chesterfield on April 17, pictured.

Notts County fans are growing concerned as their team remain outside the promotion places.

Beware, Eastleigh, who are coming on strong and the two play-off rivals meet in what could be a critical fixture in Hampshire.

FC Halifax Town are by no means assured of extending their season.

But if they put Saturday’s defeat to Bromley to bed by seeing off Woking, Pete Wild’s team will take a big step towards their goal.

Yeovil Town and Solihull Moors fans would have wanted more from their season, but the winner can at least give fans confidence ahead of next season.

Weymouth will have to keep a close eye on Maidenhead United striker Danilo Orsi-Dadamo after six goals in three matches.
