What Happened On Tuesday Night In The National League?

By Sam Elliott

The leaders sent out a message as many of their promotion rivals fired blanks on a big night of National League action.

Torquay United responded after a difficult few weeks as they won 2-1 at home specialists Solihull Moors.

Asa Hall and Billy Waters’ goals gave the table toppers a big boost in their title quest.

If the Gulls were looking for their rivals to slip up, well many did - but the side closest to them just won’t let go of their coat-tails.

Harry Beautyman was at the double for Sutton United and they just refuse to give in.

The U’s, pictured, won 2-1 at Dagenham thanks to Beautyman's brace and his team return back from East London with a fourth straight win.

The five sides below were all involved in 0-0 draws.

Hartlepool and Wrexham couldn’t be separated at the Racecourse, and there wasn’t a goal either between Stockport County and Notts County.

In-form Eastleigh were also blunt, they drew at Wealdstone.

Josh Rees doesn’t need telling where the net is - he got a hat-trick as Aldershot Town won 4-2 at Maidenhead United.

The Shots are now two points off the play-offs and Chesterfield are fast closing in too.

They beat Altrincham 1-0, it was Awkasi Asante once again who got the all-important goal to keep the Spireites moving very much in the right direction.

Rees wasn’t the only player to fire in a treble - Rhys Murphy bagged all three against rivals Weymouth to hand Yeovil a fifth home win on the bounce.

Michael Gash hit two as King’s Lynn’s recent wobble was put right.

They beat troubled Barnet 5-1 at The Walks as Tim Flowers saw his side lose their ninth game in ten.

Courtney Duffus rescued a point for Bromley as he levelled up Tyrone Marsh’s belter for Boreham Wood, it ended 1-1.
